Advice: We love a criterium race…
- Eat a good breakfast an hour before you arrive. Try porridge, or eggs on wholemeal toast.
- Double check your bike and kit the night before, and again in the morning.
- Ensure tires are pumped up well on the morning. Take unnecessary kit off the bike (e.g. pumps / tool bags / second water bottle)
- Do a decent warm up. Spin the legs gently for 20 minutes. Then one short effort to get the HR up. Then a spin.
- Make every effort to stay with the front group. Don’t let a gap open.
- Try and stay on the outside coming up the hill. Don’t get boxed in.
- Contest your own sprint with those around you – points are available for every place up to 20th.
- Bringing some food to share for after the race would be divine!
