This is my first Crit - how should I approach it?

Relax and try and enjoy yourself! First and foremost, make sure you keep safe. Don't change your line and try to keep your bike as straight as possible. Not only is wobbling around dangerous, it is also not very energy efficient.

Try and conserve energy. Follow someone else's wheel as much as possible. Drafting saves you as much as 35% of your energy.

Don't overtake going into the bottom corner, and don't pedal! Your pedal will hit the floor if you pedal while cornering here at speed. It's the biggest cause of accidents at the Teardrop.

Make sure you stay safe, and try to stick with the bunch. That's enough for your first race. But, if you find yourself in the top 5 or 6 as you successfully round the last corner, go for it!

I hope you enjoy the day, Mr Ryder

Results

Provisional results (subject to confirmation from CV):

Congratulations to everyone on a great day of racing! There were some outstanding individual performances, but above all, an outstanding team effort.

In the Juniors, there were many excellent performances. Congratulations to Ren-Hao Chan who is now the B grade series leader after placing 6th in his Crit race, and 1st in the B grade Time Trial. Congratulations also to Lachlan Thompson who is the C grade series leader, after placing 3rd in his Crit, and 1st the C grade Time Trial. Jayden Spring rode an excellent race in his A grade Crit, finishing in a fantastic 2nd place.

The Seniors also had a successful day. Congratulations to Bennett Baker, who took out the win in Senior C grade. David Greig deserves a mention for leading a break of four off the bunch in the Senior B grade to take home 26 points for the team. Alex Katris was the highest placed Trinity rider, placing 7th in Senior A grade.
