Review:
In the midst of lots of cancelled events, Cycling Victoria chose to hold the cycling season finale on Saturday.
Trinity finished the season strongly; Alex Katris scored his best result of the season, coming fourth in a highly competitive Senior A grade. Chris Ling won his race in Senior B grade in an extraordinarily fast bunch sprint finish; Seb Ryder came second in Senior C grade after joining a breakaway with one other rider; Dominic Ling placed third in Junior A grade winning his bunch sprint for third place after two riders made a break; Ewan Brown missed solo break in Junior B grade, but won his bunch sprint to finish second; and in Junior C grade, Gabriel Garriock finished first after a solo break, and Declan Ham and Thomas Blair finished second and third. In the individual points season totals, Chris Ling placed first in Senior B grade; Seb Ryder placed third in Senior C grade; Ewan Brown won the Junior B grade, and Gabriel Garriock and Thomas Blair placed first and second respectively in Junior C grade.
This all means that Trinity have finished in second place overall in the Interschool Cycling Series, a little way behind St Kevin’s, but nearly doubling the points achieved by Camberwell. We also comprehensively beat Scotch, Caulfield, Mentone, Xavier and 32 other schools over the season. This has, I think, probably been our best season to date.
The most pleasing thing about the season has been the comradery between older and younger cyclists. I have loved being part of this fantastic sport.
