Race review by Jamie Blackburn

The 2023 season is officially underway!

The evening began later than expected as traffic and a missing bus halted our arrival to the hallowed track of Sandown racecourse. All was not lost as, in preparation for one of the most important evenings of our lives, an inspirational choir performance of "bicycle race" by Queen was sung by the boys to the pleasure of all on board the bus - who would've thought we were amazing cyclists AND singers...

Racing was capped off by the Juniors at 5:20 - Freddie, Alex, Ryan, Derek, Jacob and Dereck making up a strong Trinity contingent in the A, B and C divisions. Windy conditions of the front straight made for tough conditions but ultimately, Jacob Wang came away with a spectacular podium in the Cs (one of two for the evening...). Well done also to all the Year 7s on their first race with the team - a superb start!

In the seniors, changing wind and large races made for interesting tactics and challenging competition. In the As, Sam Geldard fought hard, taking a very respectable 4th place in the sprint finish, while Xavier managed to break away from the peloton for a solid third place finish in the Cs- a podium well deserved. Unfortunately, Jimmy and Matt hit the deck in their Senior C races but, showing true TGS spirit, were up and on their way less than 30mins later - they'll be dangerous next race mark my words.

To the whole team, well done on a solid first race of the season, especially after coming back after only a single training session, and its only upwards from here. Go Ts!

Congratulations to everyone who had their first race today!

Congratulations to Jacob who came third in Junior D
